"River Oak Center for Children is committed to helping children and families successfully manage life's challenges through a wide range of behavioral health and social services by providing prevention, treatment and caring support. River Oak advocates bringing outstanding and innovative programs to children and families in need."

Now the River Oak Center for Children is celebrating 40 years of helping children and families overcome life’s challenges and realize the best of their potential. During this time SAHU is recognized for its donation of $7,000.00 to the River Oak Summer Camp.

With the recent tragedies of the Hurricanes, there are many displaced families that need our help. SAHU has decided to participate in two programs.

The first is the Bag It Program. Please read the attached flyer. Basically, all you need to do is put together a minimum of 5 items in a bag (the items are listed on the flyer). We will forward this on to the Nicholas House that is distributing the items to the families in need.

The second program is a kids backpack program. This is advertised on the nickelodeon cable station. It's called We've Got Your Back! They usually reach out to kids all year long, however with the hurricanes they are focusing their attention on kids affected on the Gulf Coast. They are asking you to buy a backpack and fill it with school supplies. See attached flyer. It shouldn't cost more than $25 to fill a backpack with a few supplies. At this point anything will help, as their schools have nothing.

Please contact Tani Conidaris at (916) 563-6008 or tani@premierlife.com and she will make arrangements to have the items picked up.

There are many ways to participate in helping out the victims on the Gulf Coast, but SAHU is asking that you join our forces and make a difference in the lives of these children and their families.

SAHU donations

SAHU reaches out to the community. On October 24th SAHU donated a bicycle to a victim of the Hurricane Katrina disaster. The person who received this donation lost a home and found a new one here in Sacramento. This donation was coordinated by Tani Conidaris who is the Community Service chair on the SAHU board.
